ORPENELLA'S UPWARD CURVE

Orpenella ran a cracking second race of her career at Southwell on Tuesday when chasing home Crying Aloud in a six furlong maiden.

The winner, having her fifth start and rated 80 by the BHA, was tried at Listed level last year and looked a nice prospect in winning smoothly from Orpenella, who pulled fully nine lengths clear of the remainder.

To pull so far clear of the remainder on only her second taste of racecourse action was a very pleasing effort from Orpenella, who had come on plenty for the experience of her debut.

The daughter of Orpenella, who received a pedigree boost just hours after today's race when her half-sister Lady Bluesky made a winning debut at Wetherby in the concluding bumper, is likely to be seen out again soon for her third outing.
