Ayr's Western Meeting

Flat racing's band wagon moves north of the border this week for one of the most popular festivals of the season: The Western Meeting up at Ayr.

The three day festival has been a favourite target of Kevin Ryan's over the years and he has enjoyed much success there. His most notably successes have come in the feature race of the festival, The Ayr Gold Cup, which he has won twice in recent years with Advanced and last year's winner Our Jonathan.  Advanced looks likely to be participating in The Bronze Cup this year while Our Jonathan bids to retain his crown, competing in the premier race on Saturday.

Kevin reports Our Jonathan to be in great form and, with the ground in his favour this weekend, he must go there with a cracking chance.

Kevin will have many runners at the festival over the course of the week and is likely be represented by a good back-up team for the Ayr Gold Cup, including the popular handicapper Captain Ramius. 

The Hambleton racing team will also be well represented this week with grand servant and nine-time-winner Shifting Gold running on the Thursday, consistent sprinter Waking Warrior running the on Friday and the talented and striking grey Lightning Cloud making going in the Silver Cup on Saturday.

As always, the festival will offer great racing and fun for all and everyone here at Hambleton is very much looking forward to it!
