Sharp Eclipse’s sire didn’t reach the peak of his powers till he was four and it appears the son of Exceed And Excel is taking after his father in that respect, as he continues to improve as he matures.
Lightly raced after showing promise last year, the progressive three-year-old has risen 13lb in the ratings since that start of the year, hitting the frame five times in 2010 before gaining a richly-deserved win under champion jockey contender Paul Hanagan at Newcastle.

Sharp Eclipse, pictured above with matters firmly in hand close home, was completing a ‘Dusty Bin’ set of form figures at the North East track, having finished third at the course as a juvenile and runner-up on his seasonal reappearance.
He showed determination under pressure before being greeted by his owners after his career best effort.

An imposing sort, it’s likely he will be a much stronger and better horse again next year but in the meantime he is likely to continue to give his owners plenty of fun in the remainder of the 2010 flat season.
The robust DBS Premier Yearling Sales graduate has already taken his owners racing eight times this year and will be out and racing again soon.
