£136,867.94. A first prize to savour and one Kevin Ryan secured at York as Bogart took the DBS Premier Yearling Sales race on Ladies Day at the Ebor meeting.
Bogart, an impressive winner on his debut, travelled noticeably well, looking the winner a long way out before running on really well to prove himself another talented two-year-old for Kevin, and in the process enjoying a bumper pay day.
Kevin’s stable jockey Phillip Makin, enjoying his best ever year in the saddle and pictured below, was full of praise for the winner: "He gave me a great feel. He was going that easy I could let him have a breather early on. He has bags of speed and I'm sure he'll stay further."

The success highlighted once again the quality that Kevin and the team can unearth from Doncaster’s prestigious Premier Yearling Sale, which takes place at the end of the month.
Kevin’s team has already done plenty of work on the catalogue and the vibes are this year’s sale contains the best bunch of horses the sale has ever seen – high praise indeed given this sale has a rich tradition of producing top-class performers .
With the economic downturn continuing to bite on the horse population the experts are predicting a buyers market, all of which augurs very well for our plans for DBS Premier Yearling Sales syndicate.
The plan is to buy a horse capable of being competitive at next year’s Ebor meeting in the big DBS two-year-old race, one of the most valuable two-year-old races of the year.
In the meantime Bogart, pictured below blitzing clear of his York rivals, is likely to be chasing some more bumper pay days this autumn.
