R.I.P. Judy

24/08/10

We have received some very sad news in recent days that Judy, an owner in Shifting Gold and formerly in Mazzanti and Safebreaker, has passed away.

As many of her friends were aware Judy, who had owned with Hambleton from day one, had been suffering with poor health for some time but had been feeling better earlier in the summer and was able to get racing to both Thirsk and Ripon.

Unfortunately Judy's health deteriorated quickly late last week before she passed away.

Judy was a true racing fan and a prolific and successful punter to boot. A big fan of Kevin's, she won several thousand pounds when Uhoomagoo provided Kevin's first Royal Ascot winner and having horses trained by Kevin really did fulfill a dream for her.

All three of her horses won races for her with perhaps Shifting Gold's win at Newcastle, where Judy was in attendance and got the chance to talk to and thank Amy Ryan for her great ride after the day's racing, the highlight of her many successful days racing.

Judy's cup was always half full and she never had anything but nice things to say - and a humuorous line or two - about anything to do with her horses. She will be sadly missed by us all, and of course her husband Jacko and her many friends.

Judy's funeral is to be held at St Cuthberts church in Pateley Bridge at 2.30pm on Tuesday, 31st August. There will be a collection for Macmillan Cancer on the day, no flowers please.
