Winter dreams for Red Clubs colt's owners

29/01/12

With sub zero temperatures returning this week, York’s Ebor meeting seems an awful long way away but for owners in our two-year-old syndicate by Red Clubs,  the dream of racing there as an owner is just beginning.

The strong looking son of Red Clubs, pictured below, is among the 195 horses entered for the DBS Premier Yearling Stakes on 23rd August at this year’s Ebor week at York.

Kevin Ryan is no stranger to success in this prestigious race, with last year’s talented two-year-old, Bogart, purchased for just £32,000 at the previous year’s DBS sale, bagging the prize money in 2011.

The race is only open to horses bought from the Doncaster‘s August and September two-year-old sales and offers some of the highest prize money of any European two-year-old race, Bogart pocketing no less than £136,000 when passing the post first.

We still have some wait ahead of us before the race, but the Red Clubs colt is looking in great order as he begins to prepare for the exciting challenges that lie ahead.

It has been a similar story in the past for Hambleton owners who have started the year with a dream and had a taste of sweet success come the Summer, with Shoshoni Wind, pictured below, and Mazzanti both winning their maidens before ending up in the prize money places in the big York spectacle!

There is nothing quite like racing at the Ebor meeting as an owner and the dream is very much alive that this exciting colt could be racing on the big stage in August.

At this stage of the year, the warm summer sunshine is a comforting thought.

Here’s hoping this exciting young horse can emulate Hambleton’s previous successes and give his owners a summer to remember!
