Winter forecast holds few terrors

24/01/12

After one of the mildest winters the forecast winter weather that many experts are predicting is likely to see some race meetings abandoned, and many trainers struggling to exercise their horses.

When such difficult circumstances arise, we have little cause to worry however, as Kevin’s investment in facilities means he is very well equipped to keep the entire yard on the move in even the coldest of weathers.

Kevin’s constant drive for more winners means he is as keen as any trainer to update and improve facilities when and where possible and that dedication has meant his Hambleton stables have seen many changes since Kevin took over the training at the famous yard.

Year on year Kevin has improved the facilities and equipment and the stables are now very much state of the art, boasting an indoor school, the ever-vital treadmill, private all-weather gallop, on-site veterinary room, three horse walkers, and the horse spa.

These facilities meant that Kevin was able cope really well last winter when temperatures regularly dipped below the -10 mark at Hambleton.

With that in mind, we can relax safe in the knowledge if the sub zero wintery weather does arrive, Kevin and his staff are perfectly equipped to cope.

We could say bring it on, but out of respect for the team that works so hard with the horses we hope the weather doesn’t get too cold – wellie warmers that work right through morning stables have seemingly yet to be invented!
