A perfect debut by Verona
19th October 2021
A horse’s first day at school is always exciting and it was great to see Verona Star make the perfect start for his horse racing syndicate when winning at Newcastle this afternoon.
The imposing son of Gutaifan travelled notably well under Hollie Doyle, who gave Verona Star a lovely educational ride, taking her time before asking him to go and win his race in the final quarter mile.
Verona Star found really well for pressure under Hollie, pulling clear with the runner up to win in pleasing style. Hollie, who was struggling to pull him up afterwards, was delighted with Verona afterwards and feels this first-time-out winner is a lovely prospect to look forward to for next year.
This win is yet another advert for Archie’s bloodstock team who continue to source our owners some cracking horses on a sensible budget.
It will be fascinating to see how Archie campaigns Verona following this perfect debut, but he looks a cracking three-year-old in the making given he still has some strengthening to do.
We’d like to take this chance to congratulate Verona Star’s syndicate on their horse’s perfect start to his racing career!
