Another shining light!
7th November 2024
The start of the week brought an impressive debut success at Southwell for two-year-old Port Light, who looks another shining light to enjoy from Archie Watson’s Lambourn stable.
This youngster by City Light, whose progeny we have already enjoyed considerable success with previously, made a really pleasing start to his racing career, getting off the mark first time up, and the further he went the better he seemed to go.
After having to wait a long time in the stalls for the rest of the field to load, Port Light was soon settled nicely in the midfield through the early stages under Pierre-Louis Jamin.
Despite conceding considerable track position to the hot favourite he picked up strongly down the home straight to pick off his well-fancied rival inside the final furlong.
The front two pulled well clear of the remainder and with Port Light shaping as though there could be plenty of improvement to come and Pierre very positive in his appraisal of him afterwards, there appears to be lots for his horse racing syndicate to look forward to.
Archie has always had plenty of time for Port Light and he was delighted for his owners that he got off to such a perfect start on the racecourse.
This win continues our impressive record with breeze-up purchases from the Goresbridge breeze-up sale with Archie.
Dyrholaey, sold to race on for big money after winning his first three starts, and Listed winners Maystar and Mehmento are just some examples of the quality we’ve sourced alongside Archie.
The win of Port Light means every single horse we’ve bought from Goresbridge has won for our owners – a record to be proud of!
With Port Light looking every inch another shining light for us, his horse racing syndicate will be eagerly awaiting what Archie has in mind next for him and looking ahead to what promises to be an exciting 2025 with this exciting colt.
