Alazwar Huntingdon Brodie Archie win enc

Archie’s jumps team off to a flyer

6th October 2021

Archie’s jumps team got off to a flyer at Huntingdon yesterday with our first runner an easy winner for his delighted owners.

We’re all excited about our new select team of jumpers with Archie Watson for the up-coming National Hunt season.

With Archie’s help we’ve aimed to put together a small but select trio of jumpers to give our owners plenty of fun through the up-coming National Hunt season.

As with any new venture, it’s always nice to make a bright start and things couldn’t have started any better with our first runner Alazwar running away with the junior bumper at Huntingdon in fine style.

As ever, we worked the in-training sales hard to acquire some interesting horses and the well-related son of Awtaad made sure it was the best possible start to our new jumping venture with Archie.

Settled in a prominent position by Gavin Sheehan, Alazwar was always moving well and when asked to go and win his race, he powered away in great style to win decisively.

Gavin was most complimentary about the winning performance after the race, as he reported back to some of Alazwar’s delighted horse racing syndicate on course.

Pretty much everyone seemed impressed with the performance with Nick Luck waxing lyrical on Racing TV and Timeform saying ‘quickened clear, impressive, destined for better things’.

In typical Archie fashion, those better things are already scheduled into a plan with Alazwar now aiming towards a Listed bumper at Cheltenham on New Years’ Day.

Part of our hopes with our new jumping venture with Archie was to provide plenty of success and racing and to hopefully take our owners to some of the bigger tracks on occasion.

In typical Archie fashion, it appears he’s going to deliver straight away with a trip to Cheltenham’s Prestbury Park now awaiting Alazwar’s excited horse racing syndicate.

The fact Archie’s jumps team is off to a flyer only heightens excitement for our other two National Hunt horses with Archie, Grove Road and Nifty Getaway.

The five-year-olds are both point-to-point graduates and are shaping up really well at Saxon Gate, with Nifty Getway due to begin her career in bumpers for her owners in December.

Grove Road, who Archie reports has made huge physical progress since joining us, has just started his faster work and really pleased Archie with his first gallop this week.

He’s due to start in a bumper next month and having impressed Henrietta Knight with his schooling, looks another fascinating recruit for our small but select jumping squad.

A few shares remain available in Grove Road. Here’s hoping he can follow Alazwar’s lead and get off to a good start next month.
