Autonomy brings up the double
11th May 2022
Bargain buy Autonomy doubled up at Newcastle last night, making it two wins from as many starts for the Phil Kirby team in recent weeks.
Autonomy, purchased for just £3,000 at the in-training sales, raced in his usual hold-up style, coming from last to first to take his winning tally to five for the Phil Kirby team.
The son of Dansili, a half-brother to Derby winner Authorized, was bred in the purple which makes it even more astonishing that our buying team were able to pick him up for such a small sum.
Phil has bided his time with Autonomy, who he has always held in some regard, and it is great to see his patience paying off with two fantastic efforts this year to bring up the double.
Andrew Mullen timed his run to perfection to produce Autonomy in the final furlong where he always looked to be doing enough, winning buy a decisive neck on the line.
It was a taking performance and one which Phil feels Autonomy will be able to build on going forward, giving his horse racing syndicate plenty to look forward to for the rest of the year.
Phil was delighted with the performance, and feels Autonomy is going from strength to strength now he’s got his confidence.
Autonomy is proving yet another success for our owners from the in-training sales, to build further on our excellent recent record in recent years of our buying team.
Horse like Glen Shiel and Outbox have grabbed the headlines but there have been many other notable success stories, such as winning 25,000gns purchase Tempus, who is already twice stakes placed for his horse racing syndicate since joining us last summer.
Autonomy looks sure to continue to do his bit, and after his cracking start to the spring, hopes are now high he can build on his recent form for his owners.
