Available Horses: Archie Watson
Archie's Watson's record is quite something. In just his second full year training Archie won prestigious Group races at Royal Ascot, Doncaster’s St. Leger meeting and enjoyed several other Listed winners to boot as part of an impressive century of winners.
Behind the headlines are some hard knocking, impressive facts. In 2018 Archie Watson’s strike rate with his two-year-old runners is better than that of Aidan O’Brien (22%), John Gosden (22%) and Richard Hannon (13%). Indeed, Archie’s strike record with his youngsters is better than any other leading British trainer.
A great judge of a horse, Archie has sourced his own stable stars to date and is confident he’s recruited us an exciting type in Dramatic Sands, who Archie describes as 'the best looking two-year-old colt in the yard'.
As that comment suggests, he’s loads of size and scope and is by a top-class stallion in the unbeaten 2000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand, a regular producer of Group class performers, right up to the top level.
Archie likes to buy good looking horses from families that have yet to fully develop and this is very much a case in point.
This colt’s third dam is the top-class Bint Pasha, who won twice at Group 1 level in the Yorkshire Oaks and the Prix Vermaille and has been responsible for any number of classy horses since.
An exceptional individual, who's exciting his in-form trainer, and pleasing his regular rider, Dramatic Sands has a real look of quality about him.
Archie, who recently entered Dramatic Sands for the £300,000 Weatherbys Sales race at Doncaster's St. Leger meeting, thinks this colt has a touch of class and he's a horse we're all excited about.
We have one twelfth share remaining in Dramatic Sands who is expected to begin his racing career by mid June, if not before.
