Having made 800,000gns as a yearling, Mischief Rule unsurprisingly has a very impressive pedigree.
By one of the world’s best sires in Dubawi (stud fee £350,000), his dam won the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks and Listed Pretty Polly Stakes.
It’s a phenomenal pedigree and he’s a very big boy who stands 17 hands tall and tips the scales at a whopping 542kg.
As such, this horse was never likely to see much action last year and an injury, which our in-training vet was very happy with when scanning at the sales, meant his time was up with Godolphin.
As our owners know very well, year after year Godolphin sell high-class future winners at the in-training sales.
Hambleton’s best ever horse, Group 1 winner Glen Shiel, was recruited from Godolphin after suffering similar issues while we’ve enjoyed any number of other winners from Godolphin with horses that have simply ran out of time to fulfill their potential with the boys in blue.
This year's Group 1 winner Isle Of Jura is the latest in a long line of horses to highlight the benefits of buying horses that Godolphin deem surplus to requirements.
Mischief Rule is bred on the magical Dubawi/Cape Cross nick which has produced Frontiersman (119) Game Starter (112) Saleymm (112). Of the ten colts and geldings bred on the Dubawi/Cape Cross nick, an incredible nine rated 80 or higher, with seven of those rating 95 or higher.
Trainer David O’Meara thinks we’ve bought a real bargain here and is keen to own this lad alongside our owners as he thinks there could be a serious upside to him.
