Hambleton’s very first two-year-old with Kevin, Mazzanti, was purchased from Doncaster’s Goffs Premier sale and was a quality winning two-year-old. We’ve been returning to the sale with Kevin ever since, finding quality winners for our owners to enjoy.
The more winners we’ve found, the more popular our yearling purchases from Doncaster became, which led us to start allowing owners and new clients alike to reserve a place in the syndicate ahead of the sale from 2011.
This year Kodiak Breeze (£18,000) and Washington Heights (£24,000) have been among those to highlight the quality Kevin finds us at Doncaster.
The former, a sizeable two-year-old with plenty of improvement to come, finished runner-up on debut to a subsequent winner before winning his next two starts. He’s all set to contest the lucrative Harry’s Half Million at York’s Ebor meeting next.
Washington Heights, runner-up in the above race as a two-year-old is a quality sprinter who took his career earnings to £397,254 when winning his third Listed race in May. Not bad for a horse that cost just £24,000!
Another success story was Group winner Atomic Force (£22,000) who sold on for a huge profit for his owners. These horses grab the headlines, but the real strength of the Goffs Premier Sales is the overall quality of the individual presented.
Many of the young horses here are generally very forward, strong horses who stand their training very well and, crucially, put our owners in the winner’s enclosure. Since 2006, 81% of the yearlings we’ve bought from Doncaster have done just that.
We pride ourselves on trying to refine and improve our processes and that ratio improves further still over the past six years to 86%. Remarkably the cost of every one of these winners has been £35,000 or less.
A twelfth share in our most popular syndicate will cost £4,000 or less. As past history shows, our budget gives Kevin Ryan a real chance to source a quality horse from a top-class sale.
The initial cost of share estimate of £4,000 is the maximum cost of a share and, as with previous purchases, there is a very good chance the actual cost will be notably less. It is possible to reserve a share in the Goffs Premier Yearling syndicate for a deposit of £500.
