Christmas Lunch Hambleton Style

This year’s Owners Christmas get togethers proved a great success on Monday as owners from our horse racing syndicates joined us at two venues to enjoy a Christmas lunch Hambleton style.

The Hambleton team were split between two excellent venues, the Black Bull at Moulton and the Crab And Boar at Chieveley where they offered a warm welcome to owners new and old as the smell of mulled wine filled the air.

As guests enjoyed the warming festive drinks a great atmosphere developed as owners caught up with friends and new owners to Hambleton and got a taste of how we like to do things.

The atmosphere developed further as owners were entertained by excellent magicians, who mesmerised guests with some of his close-at-hand magic.
Clever card tricks, miraculously appearing bottles of beer and coins trapped under owners watches where just some of the things that had everyone entertained.

As some of us were still trying to fathom how on earth the tricks were done owners sat down for lunch in beautifully appointed rooms, decked out with Christmas trees and some beautiful, festive decorations.

The food was of a high standard and very well received by guests. Needless to say, turkey and all the trimmings was the order of the day.

As lunch was digested attention turned to our Christmas quiz, which tested owners with a selection of Christmas trivia which really got the grey matter working.

Whether it was trying to name the reindeer from Twas The Night Before Christmas or working out where the Poinsettia plant came from, it was interesting to see everyone’s grey matter getting a work out after lunch.

Despite some generous assistance from the Quiz Master, some teams struggled to score heavily but not Table 12 who amassed an incredible 30 points from the 31 available.

It transpired much credit went to Rachel who was able to answer 27 of the questions on her own and will doubtless be in great demand at next year’s event after this impressive display.

Rachel’s winning team all received a prize bottle of champagne and chocolates in recognition of their fine efforts.

It was great to see so many owners join us for Christmas lunch on what proved a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for the Hambleton team at both venues.

We’ve been inundated with some kind messages since returning to the office and would like to take this chance to say a big thank you to each and every owner that attended and helped make the day the success it was.

Our Christmas lunch Hambleton style certainly proved very popular and looks sure to become another firm favourite in the our social diary!
