Dalham Hall Hambleton visit parade

Dalham Hall visit

10th May 2023

We aim to make owning a racehorse with Hambleton as fulfilling as possible and relish the chance to give our owners an insight into the workings of the racing industry when possible.

Over the past 20 years, we’ve arranged private stud visits to some of Europe’s leading bloodstock operations for our owners and it was great to be back at Dalham Hall in Newmarket this week, the home of the mighty Dubawi no less.

Located on the outskirts of Newmarket, Dalham is one of the finest studs in the world and the breeding operation of Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin team.

As you would imagine, the stud is immaculate, and the horses want for nothing as they concentrate their efforts on producing the next champion to grace the racecourse.

Our day began in the beautiful surroundings of the nearby Granary Estates, a venue with a well-established reputation for excellence. Drinks were provided on arrival as owners looked forward to the day ahead.

Once everyone was suitably refreshed and prepared, we made the short journey over to Dalham via private coach where we were met by our guides for our visit.

George and Jack proved most knowledgeable and engaging hosts as they told the gallery about the star sires in residence, and some of the fascinating history of Dalham.

The chance to see the stallions was of course the main event of the day and it was hard not to be impressed by the quality on show with the likes of Derby winner Masar parading for owners as we were updated on his story at stud to date.

The mighty Dubawi, last year’s Champion sire, is Dalham’s superstar and the most successful sire to ever stand in Britain.

Owners were told all about his meteoric rise to the top of world breeding and that it currently costs just the £350,000 to send Dubawi a mare!

Everyone seemed impressed to be in presence of greatness, though perhaps understandably, no hands went up to request a nomination form!

It was a real treat for owners to see these fantastic athletes at close quarters, and take in the other immaculate facilities of Dalham, such as the covering barns and foaling boxes.

On the subject of foals, on the ground at Dalham Hall are the next generation of Godolphin’s thoroughbreds, who we got a glimpse of in the impressive paddocks. Who knows, maybe there was a Group 1 star of the future on show.

Once proceedings were complete at Dalham, we headed off for a delicious lunch which was very well received, as owners relaxed and discussed the morning they had enjoyed in Newmarket.

The visit to Dalham proved hugely popular. We’d like to take this chance to thank everyone for their kind comments and messages about the visit.

We’d also like to take this chance to thank Sheikh Mohammed and the Dalham team for providing a private viewing of the stud and an excellent, money-can’t-buy experience for our owners. A day that will live long in the memory.
