Our first runner of the year with trainer David O’Meara proved a winner as Twilight Diamond produced a polished debut at Wolverhampton on Saturday.
A big boy, the gorgeous son of Twilight Son has been a rather immature horse so far and was making his debut on Saturday as a four-year-old.
His horse racing syndicate have been patient with him and are now starting to reap the rewards with this well-bred four-year-old, who’s a full brother to Twilight Calls, twice placed in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Breaking well enough from the stalls, Twilight Diamond tracked the pace on his debut before his rider made a move rounding the home turn.
Soon challenging, he ran on well in the final furlong to get on top of the front-running runner-up and seal a perfect winning debut for his delighted horse racing syndicate.
Well on top at the finish, this was a very promising start from Twilight Diamond, who had a good blow after the race in winner’s enclosure.
Jockey David Nolan was very complimentary about Twilight Diamond after the race, explaining how green he was in the prelims, that he’d done everything right in the race itself and was sure to improve for his first taste of racecourse action.
Trainer David O’Meara also feels this well-bred four-year-old is sure to benefit from this first taste of racecourse action and it will be fascinating to see how he can progress in David’s care moving forwards.
For now though, his owners can look back on Twilight Diamond’s polished winning debut and ahead to his next start of 2025.
David has of course been providing winners for owners for well over a decade and whether it’s a winner at Wolverhampton, Epsom, such as Watchable, or Ascot, our owners always know they head to the races with a great chance of being competitive with one of David’s horses.
