Feel The Need - Round Gallop

Feel The Need’s naming day

29th June 2022

On a warm summer’s day, owners enjoyed a get together at Willow Farm with their trainer David O’Meara and the Hambleton team as Feel The Need’s horse racing syndicate joined us to name their two-year-old.

A pleasant morning greeted owners, who enjoyed a typically relaxed morning at David O’Meara’s impressive base near York where they’d gathered to see their two-year-old son of Ribchester on his naming day.

Ahead of the action owners took full advantage of the welcome drinks and nibbles on offer.

As lattes were sipped owners prepared to leave the yard to watch their soon-to-be-named two-year-old in action on David’s uphill gallop.

Feel The Need, pictured above, didn’t seem overly worried by his extra audience on the gallops, impressing with the way he lengthened as he passed the gallery moving well.

As he walked back into the yard, owners got a closer look at their two-year-old who is an impressive specimen and probably not that far off a run, with David already considering entries for him.

Upon his return to the yard, it was time for owners to get to know their horse a little better, as his complimentary naming day pictures were taken. Feel The Need is a strong colt and was rather full of life after his exercise, making for an interesting photo shoot for our photographer Louise Pollard and his owners.

Once owners had seen Feel The Need at closer quarters and enjoyed a good look around the yard at David’s impressive facilities everyone headed off to the nearby The Stone Trough for drinks ahead of the naming meal.

We’re always on the look out to try and improve what we do for owners and after hearing good things about The Stone Trough we were delighted to take our owners there.

As expected, the food and service was of a high standard before Cosmo took to the floor to announce the name Feel The Need as the winner of the naming vote.

Owners toasted Feel The Need with champagne while Ian, an owner in several other Hambleton horses, received the plaudits for suggesting the successful name.

With the main attraction looking in fine shape and a strong horse with a nice future, Feel The Need’s naming day proved a real success with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere evident throughout the day as we said hello to some old friends and made some new ones.

Feel The Need holds an entry next week and it’s unlikely to be long before he’s out and racing for his owners.

We would like to thank all owners who joined us at David’s for Tuesday’s event on what will hopefully be the first of many memorable days for Feel The Need’s horse racing syndicate.

We’re very much looking forward to similar events at the stables with Archie Watson and Kevin Ryan in the coming weeks.
