Al Zaraqaan Musselburgh jump

Four-timer for Al

5th December 2022

It’s five wins and counting for Al Zaraqaan who completed a four-timer over hurdles today at Musselburgh under an impressed Gavin Sheehan.

The progressive son of Golden Horn, yet another multiple winner we recruited from the horses in training sales, began handicapping off a mark of 104 and has been typically well placed by Archie Watson and the team.

Listed placed on the Flat for his owners earlier in the year, Al has really enjoyed the switch to hurdling and has taken his owners on an interesting journey to complete his four-timer.

His winning run started in the West Country at Newton Abbot before he then ventured out to Sweden to record an easy win at Bro Park.

A likeable win near the East Coast followed at Fakenham before the move to Musselburgh where Al kept his progressive form up for his delighted owners.

Travelling notably well under Gavin from an early stage, Al coped well with the softest ground he’s tackled to date over hurdles and quickly settled the race when Gavin asked him to make his move.

Clear at the last, Al Zaraqaan superiority was there for all to see on the run-in as he came well clear of his toiling rivals before being eased down for a comfortable success for his horse racing syndicate.

With four handicapping wins on his cv this progressive novice hurdler is giving his owners a great time this year and it will be fascinating to see where he heads next as he bids to keep his fine, progressive form.

This four-timer for Al Zaraqaan keeps up our fabulous strike rate for Archie under National Hunt rules.

The likes of Glen Shiel, Outbox and Tempus have provided Group race success for our owners but our strike rate with the jumpers to date is even better than our Flat record. Long may it continue!
