Garner’s perfect start
3rd June 2023
Garner made the perfect start to life for his new owners when running away from his field on his opening start at Lingfield.
The three-year-old son of Recorder, recruited for 30,000gns from the February sales this year, was having his first outing for Archie Watson and his horse racing syndicate and produced a fluent performance under Hollie Doyle in the novice event, coming home a comfortable winner over Lingfield’s six furlongs.
Hollie was impressed with his effort and thinks there is more to come from this lightly raced horse who looks very well bought now.
The win earned praise from the Racing Post and Timeform alike who said Garner ‘has the makings of a useful handicapper’ and awarded him rating of 88 for this fluent success.
The BHA handicapper agreed with that rating, earning Garner a crack at an all-together bigger prize at York this month.
His horse racing syndicate are now looking forward to seeing their recruit in action on the Knavesmire in a £100,000 handicap for three-year-olds over six furlongs.
This prestigious handicap is one of the most valuable prizes open to three-year-old sprinters in the entire calendar and will offer Garner the chance to build on his perfect start for his owners.
Win, lose or draw, it will be great to see Garner lining up in such a valuable event on a great day’s racing at York for his horse racing syndicate.
He looks a quality young horse and hopefully one his owners can enjoy many more great days with.
