Glen back in France
15th November 2019
Glen Shiel is bound for France on Saturday offering his connections an interesting trip abroad as their talented five-year-old takes his place in a valuable conditions race across the Channel.
This likeable son of Pivotal was the first horse to join us with Archie Watson from the horses in training sales and has proved an ultra-shrewd purchase, giving his owners a great start to date, finishing second at Goodwood before again finishing placed in the prestigious Balmoral Handicap at Ascot on Champions Day last month.
Fresh from that great day many on the syndicate are travelling to France to support Glen as he bids to secure some euros.
Glen Shiel was narrowly beaten in this French conditions race last year and Archie felt that his recent form warranted another go at this decent prize fund, with the testing conditions on the turf in France likely to bring out the best in him.
Fingers will be firmly crossed that this talented individual can continue his impressive start to racing in the blue and beige Hambleton silks as he looks to add more prize money to the pot for his owners in the feature race on the card at Le Croise-Laroche.
It has been a fantastic first season for Hambleton’s runners with Archie Watson. All the horses under the care of this young, talented trainer have been competitive with some great wins secured from our select string already, not to mention a trip to Royal Ascot.
Win lose or draw, Saturday looks to be another exciting day for Glen Shiel’s connections and fingers will be crossed for another great run.
