Glen Shiel Champions Sprint Ascot

Glen Shiel runner-up in Champions Sprint

16th October 2021

The Group 1 legend that is Glen Shiel ran yet another cracker for his owners on Britain’s Champions Flat racing meeting, finishing a fabulous runner-up in the Champions Sprint.

Breaking with all his old panache, Glen soon had the huge Group 1 field in trouble off the front end, with he and Hollie Doyle travelling with ease at the head of the affairs.

Hollie asked Glen for more and the response was immediate as the top-class son of Pivotal galloped on strongly to repel all bar the improving three-year-old Creative Force for Godolphin.

This excellent effort means Glen has now finished runner-up twice for his owners at Ascot in Group 1 races this year, pocketing £264,000 in prize money in those two runs alone.

We’re all so proud of Glen who continues to prove an absolute dream horse for his horse racing syndicate.

Whether it’s standing close to the Queen at Royal Ascot, having lunch with the chairman at Haydock or simply running his heart out on British Racing’s biggest day, Glen continues to deliver a great experience for his owners.

He’s one of countless success stories we’ve recruited for our owners from the horses in training sales. With a massive catalogue all set to go under the hammer in a few weeks at Newmarket we’re hoping and expecting to find another quality bargain or two for our owners.

In the meantime, we can reflect on the wonderful achievements of Glen who after finishing runner-up in the Champions Sprint took his career earnings to over £500,000.  A true legend.
