Grove Road stays unbeaten
21st December 2022
There were some great scenes as Hereford today as exciting novice hurdler Grove Road retained his unbeaten record with a game success.
A winner at Sedgefield and Carlisle prior to this success, the six-year-old was stepping up significantly in trip this time, racing over an extended three miles for the first time.
The son of Mahler absolutely relished the extra distance, jumping notably well throughout before showing a wonderful attitude to get the better of the well-backed runner up Mr Vango in the home straight.
Jockey Adam Wedge, now aboard for all three of Grove Road’s wins to date, was once again very impressed with the attitude of his mount and felt the ground hadn't been ideal for him either.
Adam reported Grove Road showed a terrific attitude for him and jumped superbly out of the holding, testing ground.
Trainer Archie Watson was understandably delighted to see Grove remain unbeaten for his horse racing syndicate. With another impressive win under his belt Archie is now planning to step Grove Road up in class for his next start.
The bargain buy former point-to-pointer will next be seen in the Grade 2 River Don Novices’ Hurdle at Doncaster in late January over an extended three miles.
Grove Road, a £27,000 in-training purchase from the sales, has now won all three of his completed starts under rules for his horse racing syndicate and is clearly shaping up to be a very exciting horse for his owners, and stays unbeaten in a bumper and two novice hurdles.
A horse with a great jump in him, Grove Road looks a fine prospect for chasing down the line but before then looks sure to continue to give his owners plenty of fun over the smaller obstacles.
His success is yet another fine advert for the training skills of Archie who continues to provide wonderful results for our owners under both codes.
His next start is awaited with great interest!
