Chosen Hero owners receive prize Wetherby

Hero shows her true colours

14th January 2023

There were some great scenes in the winners enclosure at Wetherby this afternoon as Chosen Hero showed her true colours, winning well on her second start under rules.

The well-bred daughter of Flemensfirth was always travelling well under top jockey Sean Bowen and could be called the winner from some way out.

Taking up the running travelling well, Chosen Hero found plenty for her rider’s urgings in the closing stages to come home a most decisive winner to the delight of her horse racing syndicate, who gave her a great welcome back into the winners enclosure.

Bought after winning a decent Irish point to point in great style, Chosen Hero had impressed none other than Henrietta knight in her pre training this year and is thought of as a very nice mare by trainer Archie Watson.

This this first success under rules suggests there are plenty more races to be one with this likeable type and it was great to see her show her true colours after not enjoying an all-weather surface on her racecourse debut.

Chosen Hero’s win it's our latest excellent National Hunt result, following on for impressive wins this season from the likes of Al Zaraqaan, Nifty Getaway and Grove Road, who remains on course for the Grade 2 River Don Novices Hurdle later this month at Doncaster.

These excellent Jumping results are yet further evidence of the excellent skills of trainer Archie Watson who seems adept at providing our owners with outstanding results, whatever the code.

Archie was delighted with Chosen Hero’s win this afternoon and, like her horse racing syndicate, is very much looking forward to seeing how this exciting mare can progress from here.
