Kevin Ryan’s Owners’ Day
30th August 2022
One of our most popular days and highlights of our social calendar, Kevin Ryan’s Owners’ Day, once again proved a great occasion on Sunday.
The longest-standing fixture of our social diary has always been popular with owners and the Hambleton team once again put all their efforts into ensuring everyone had a day to remember.
On a pleasant late August morning in the Hambleton Hills, it was great to see a large number of our owners with Kevin turned out for the day and watching old friends and new catching up and having fun.
Owners initially gathered on the gallops where they were met by the Hambleton team and Steve and Kevin, our coffee providers for the day, who offered out tasty treats to complement their hot chocolates, lattes or cappuccinos.
Trainer Kevin Ryan joined owners on the gallops as the arrival of the horses grew closer and anticipation grew on what was proving a perfect morning weather wise.
As owners enjoyed the complimentary catering and talked horses Caroline took to the microphone to offer the usual warm Hambleton welcome to all before the Hambleton horses cantered on the gallops in front of their owners.
The equine stars of the morning looked in fine condition as they exercised up Kevin’s woodchip gallop, led by our six-year-old multiple winner Magical Sprit.
Kevin slowed the horses down to a walk on the way back down the gallops so owners could get a closer look at and take as many pictures and videos as they liked.
After the gallops action, owners moved down into Kevin’s yard to see their horses at closer quarters in the horse parade.
Our Director Of Racing Simon Turner initially took to the microphone for the parade but technical gremlins meant that microphone was soon put down.
Nevertheless, undeterred, Simon was game to the task at hand and raised his voice so all could hear as he took owners through the history of each horse, and what the next few months was set to hold for each member of the team.
The horses looked in fantastic condition as they paraded, and many owners took the time to say afterwards how much they had enjoyed hearing the latest on our team with Kevin from Simon.
With the horses safely back in their boxes owners then enjoyed a relaxed tour of the yard whilst Steve kept the drinks flowing and offered drinks and refreshments for all.
From the yard it was off to the nearby award-winning Carpenters Arms, named last year as ‘The best pub in North Yorkshire’, which proved the perfect venue for owners to enjoy their complimentary, traditional Sunday lunch.
The Hambleton team joined owners at the Carpenters Arms for the afternoon and, as you’d expect at such an excellent venue, the food was of a fine standard.
Owners enjoyed the catering and atmosphere for the rest of the afternoon as they looked ahead to what promises to be an especially busy end to the season.
The support of our owners once again helped ensure Kevin’s Owners' Day was the usual great occasion.
It was great to see so many happy faces and laughter as we enjoyed being back together again on one of the team’s favourite days.
We’d like to take this chance to thank all owners who joined us on Sunday and helped contribute to making the day at Kevin’s the great success it was, and also thank all those owners who have already been in touch with such kind comments since Sunday.
