Kevin’s Royal Ascot double

Saturday was a special day for all concerned with the Kevin Ryan yard as Kevin recorded a Royal Ascot double.
Group 1 success is no stranger to Kevin and in Hello Youmzain he now has a two-time Group 1 winner. Last year’s Haydock Sprint Cup winner was reunited with stable jockey Kevin Stott for a famous win as he battled on gamely to fend off former stablemate Dream Of Dreams in the closing stages.
Hello Youmzain is the latest top-class winner for Kevin and his tenth Group 1 winner overall.
The win was all the sweeter as it was the first success at the top level for Kevin Stott, a rider with a fantastic record in the Hambleton silks over the years and hugely popular with our owners.
Kevin began his career as an apprentice with Kevin and rode many times learning the ropes on our horses. In more recent times Kevin has become prolific in our silks, riding stacks of winners over the years.
To see Kevin holding back the tears of pride and joy was a special moment.
The day was to get even better for trainer and jockey half an hour later as Hey Jonesy made all the running in the Wokingham to return to something like his best form.
Any winner at Royal Ascot is hard to come by but to record a double in two such competitive races once again highlights the outstanding training talent of Kevin Ryan.
We’ve a terrific close working relationship with Kevin and typical of the professional he is, Kevin’s attention has already turned to next week’s breeze-up sales in Newmarket.
Kevin will be looking to buy our owners an incredible tenth straight winner from the breeze-up sales which just perfectly captures what Kevin is all about – consistency and quality.
After Kevin’s Royal Ascot double, Kevin is confident there’ll be great value to be had this week. His wide network of contacts have flagged up some very interesting horses for the upcoming sales and we can’t wait to see the latest recruit for our owners from the breeze-ups.
