Coronado King made the perfect start to his career in the Hambleton silks at Wolverhampton yesterday.
Our latest bargain buy from the horses in training sales, sourced for just 18,000gns in July, is a very well-bred horse being from the family of Raven’s Pass amongst others.
His arrival in the Hambleton Racing silks was marked by both anticipation and optimism, with the buying team believing that a drop in trip would allow him to show the natural speed hinted at during his earlier runs for Godolphin.
Our buying team certainly saw plenty of promise in his two starts for Godolphin and felt he was a horse who would thrive for the shorter distance.
Hollie Doyle continues her great for Hambleton Racing owners
Sent over six furlongs for his first start with the team, Coronado King broke sharply, travelled strongly and quickly established a commanding position at the head of the field. Hollie Doyle, who had only a week earlier delivered a Group 3 victory for Hambleton in Ireland, was full of confidence throughout the contest.
She allowed her horse to stride on with purpose, and when the field tried to close in the final furlong, Coronado King found generously, repelling his rivals with ease.
After the race, Hollie Doyle, no stranger to big race success in the Hambleton silks having ridden any number of big races winners for our horse racing syndicates, explained to Coronado King’s delighted horse racing syndicate that their new horse definitely felt like a sprinter through the race, and that she felt he would take a nice step forward fitness wise for this winning debut.
How Archie Watson unlocked improvement in the new recruit
This represented another fine training performance from Archie Watson who has shown time and again he can achieve fantastic results with horses who have simply run out of time for their previous owners.
This latest success once again proves the merit and logic in teaming up with the Archie Watson team, with whom our buying team have so often managed to find seriously successful horses from the available racehorses we secure together at the horse racing bloodstock sales.
With a powerful, winning debut effort behind him, we are likely to be hearing plenty more from Coronado King through the winter all-weather season.
Here’s hoping he can build on this taking first success and give his owners plenty of fun and excitement going forwards.
