Territorial Knight striding out to win at Doncaster.

Knight strikes at Doncaster

Territorial Knight gained a well deserved second win of his career on Wednesday, seeing off a good field of older horses in really likeable style at Doncaster.

Having run two cracking races in valuable handicaps at York on his last two starts, the three-year-old was hardly winning out of turn on Town Moor.

Settled in midfield by Tom Eaves, Territorial Knight travelled well in midfield for much of the journey before finding generously for pressure off the bridle once asked for his effort.

With the field nearing the final furlong Tom and TK, as he’s fondly known by his horse racing syndicate, began to reel in the leaders and in the shadows of the post were firmly on top of his 11 rivals, clearly enjoying the rain softened ground.

As the pair were led back into the winner’s enclosure, they received a warm welcome from TK’s owners many of whom were present at Doncaster to savour the winning moment before heading off a glass of champagne to watch a replay of the win.

Tom was fulsome in his praise for the progressive winner who looks a horse on the up, this being a career best effort on his tenth career start.

From here there are potential options for this likeable horse at both Ascot and Leicester in August while trainer Kevin Ryan has also decided to hand him an entry for the Ayr Gold Cup later this year.

Wherever he represents his owners next, TK looks like he’s going to be great fun to be involved with for his owners as this progressive son of Territories continues to climb the ratings ladder this year.

A £25,000 yearling purchase from the Goffs Premier Yearling Sales, Territorial Knight is yet another great example of the quality Kevin Ryan can source our owners on a sensible budget. His success is yet another reminder why so many of our excellent owners decide to buy racehorse shares and put their faith in our buying team and trainers.
