Lambourn’s winning-most trainer
9th December 2019
The burgeoning career of trainer Archie Watson shows no sign of slowing down. It’s hard to believe the results Archie is achieving so early in his career and our horse racing syndicate owners are delighted to be aboard the journey with him.
Despite being in just his third full year training Archie has saddled a whopping 136 winners and counting this year, making him the winning most trainer to train from the historic training centre of Lambourn.
This year’s winners come on the back of 108 winners in 2018, having saddled an impressive 56 winners in his first full year training.
To be the winning most trainer to have trained out of Lambourn is an outstanding achievement for anyone. To do it at such a relative tender age is nothing short of remarkable and is hard knocking evidence that we are witnessing one of the most talented trainers in the country at work.
Such achievement is hard to comprehend and there are further impressive statistics behind the numbers. Archie’s overall strike rate since he started training is just over 18%, hitting the board more regularly than stacks of other leading trainers.
The really notable factor here is Archie Watson has not had success handed to him via hugely valuable purchases from the sales, but has largely achieved his amazing results via purchases at the lower end of the market, and other trainers cast offs.
It’s very exciting to be involved with such a talent and the feedback from our owners who’ve been involved at Saxon Gate so far has been hugely positive.
Unsurprisingly we’ve already enjoyed some great results together and we’ve no doubt there is much more to come, with a high-quality team of yearlings joining the quality horses we already have stabled at Saxon Gate.
