Tempus Royal Ascot

Living the dream at Royal Ascot

16th June 2022

It’s the biggest meeting of the year and one where everyone wants to be involved, living the racing dream at Royal Ascot.

On Wednesday, the owners of Tempus, a 25,000gns purchase last August for the Archie Watson team, headed to Royal Ascot for the Royal Hunt Cup, one of the most competitive handicaps of the year.

Fantastic weather on one of the world’s best racecourses with Hollie Doyle in the saddle – the day certainly started well and there was a tremendous buzz in the paddock as Archie and Hollie gave owners some confidence Tempus could perform with credit out on the track.

With 29 quality runners heading to post, competition was fierce but Tempus, a two-time Listed runner-up already for his horse racing syndicate this season, proved more than up for the challenge, sticking on well under a delighted Hollie Doyle to finish a solid, close-up third and claim another £22,000 in prize money for his owners.

Hollie got a warm welcome back into third place as owners basked in the glory of having a runner perform so well on the biggest stage of all.

Tempus was reportedly in fine form this morning having some paddock time and having proven himself in one of the toughest handicaps of all, is now likely to have more big races on his agenda as he continues to give his owners a fantastic ride.

Perhaps it doesn’t get much better than living the dream at Royal Ascot but another big handicap on Champions Day back at Ascot sounds pretty good with Archie feeling the Balmoral, a race worth even more than Hunt Cup, looks a good target race for Tempus.

Between now and then there should be plenty more fun to be had in big handicaps and Stakes races as Archie continues to place Tempus to great effect.

Wherever he heads, his horse racing syndicate should continue to enjoy a good ride with our latest bargain buy.
