The progressive Lord Capulet made it two wins in two starts this year when recording a straightforward win at Newcastle on Saturday for the Kevin Ryan team.
Lord Capulet extends winning run at Newcastle
Sent off a hot 6-4 favourite after winning well over the same course and distance three weeks earlier, the four-year-old was soon in a good position leading the field and went on to make all the running and win well, much to the delight of his horse racing syndicate.
The well-bred son of Make Believe has taken some time to start delivering on his promise, but the way he has galloped on to win his last two starts at Newcastle speaks of a horse in a really good place physically and mentally.
Trainer Kevin Ryan delighted with progression
All the credit for that goes to trainer Kevin Ryan, a man famous for his attention to detail who has been training winners for Hambleton Racing’s horse racing syndicates for 20 years.
Kevin was really pleased with Lord Capulet’s latest win and feels there is a good bit more to come from this likeable sort again moving forwards.
Double up for jockey Shane Gray
Jockey Shane Gray, who was completing a double on the night after winning aboard another favourite for fellow Hambleton trainer Karl Burke earlier on the card, was very pleased after the race, telling Lord Capulet’s owners than he felt he was always going to get home in front straight after the race.
With those words fresh in mind, the race replay made for very pleasant viewing for his owners, a number of whom were present to review the race over a glass of champagne.
It’s always nice to have some winners early in the calendar and given the way Lord Capulet is progressing there must be every chance he can add further gains to his January wins in the months ahead.
We look forward to seeing him out and racing again in February.
