The success story of Lord Capulet shows no sign of slowing down and his owners were celebrating again at Redcar yesterday as the progressive son of Make Believe won his fifth race of the year.
From bargain buy to five-time winner in Britain
A bargain buy by our ever-shrewd buying team from last year’s horses in training sales at just 10,000gns, he joins a long list of successful acquisitions that have given our owners plenty of fun and success over the years after joining us for bargain prices.
The big difference about last night’s win was that it came on turf. The powerful son of Make Believe had recorded all four of his previous 2026 wins on Newcastle’s Tapeta but any suggestions he needed the all-weather to be at his best were put to bed in just under 83 seconds at Redcar.
Lord Capulet’s Redcar win and turf breakthrough
Breaking well from the stalls, Lord Capulet was soon striding out well near the front end and clearly enjoying himself on the fast ground at Redcar.
As push came to shove for promising apprentice Jack Nicholls, it was soon clear that Lord Capulet was in no mood to be caught, with our progressive winning machine showing his rivals a clean pair of heels through the final furlong to win well.
As Jack and Lord Capulet strode into the winners’ enclosure they received a great reception from his horse racing syndicate, many of whom had made the journey to support him at Redcar yesterday.
Kevin Ryan’s role in a standout 2026 campaign
The win puts Lord Capulet in pretty exalted company for the year, as he became one of only four horses in Britian to have won five or more races for their owners during 2026.
To say he was acquired so cheaply makes that achievement all the more incredible and huge credit goes to trainer Kevin Ryan, who has overseen his impressive run of success this year. This latest success story offers a timely reminder about how well rewarded many of our owners have been when they chooses to buy racehorse shares with Hambleton.
Kevin was delighted with this latest win and, excitingly for Lord Capulet’s owners, feels there could be even more to come from him moving forwards.
That’s a very exciting thought but for now Lord Capulet’s winning horse racing syndicate can look back at another enjoyable win and revel in the history he is creating this year.
We look forward to seeing what Kevin Ryan has in mind for Lord Capulet next as he plots a potential sixth win of the season!
