Maystar’s Listed French test

Connections of Maystar are set for another exciting trip abroad as their talented two-year-old heads to France to try his hand in Listed company.

This striking son of Mayson has proved another ultra-shrewd Archie purchase and has given his owners a season to remember having been in the first two on all four of his starts to date.

Hollie Doyle guided Maystar to two decent novice wins before he took a notable step forward when just touched off in the valuable Tattersalls Sales race at the Curragh no less.

Archie felt that this performance earned Maystar a crack at another decent pot and he now heads across the water to try his hand in the Listed Prix Zeddaan at Deauville tomorrow.

Fingers will be firmly crossed that this smart youngster can continue his impressive start to his racing career as he and his owners get set to enjoy the feature race on the card.

It has been a stellar season for Hambleton’s runners with Archie Watson. All the horses under the care of this young, talented trainer have been running well this year and giving their owners competitive racing, and often success.

Most recently, Glen Shiel’s owners enjoyed the thrill of a runner on Champion’s Day at Ascot as their horse took his place in the ultra-competitive and valuable Balmoral Handicap.

This gorgeous son of Pivotal ran an absolute cracker on Saturday, leading the £250,000 field deep into the closing stages before keeping on to finish an excellent fourth. His owners were toasting his excellent effort with champagne after the race and some of those present are now on their way to Deauville to follow Maystar’s progress.

It promises to be another exciting day for all concerned. Here’s hoping Maystar can sign off with another big effort for his connections.
