Mehmento close home Greenham

Mehmento all set for French 2000 Guineas

12th May 2021

Some of our syndicate owners are dreaming of big-race success on Sunday with Mehmento all set to run in the French 2000 Guineas.

At just £14,000 Mehmento was a bargain buy from last year’s Goresbridge breeze-up sales, a sale we’ll be heading back to with both Archie and Kevin at the start of June, bidding to find more bargain breezers.

Mehmento was a wide-margin winner of his first two starts and ran a cracking race on his Group race debut, finishing runner-up in the Greenham at Newbury last month, just a neck behind 2000 Guineas fifth Chindit, in a race otherwise dominated by previous Group 2 winners.

That run vindicated the decision to pitch the inexperienced son of Mehmas in at the deep end and his owners are now looking forward to another exciting occasion as their bargain buy lines up in the first French Classic of the year, a Group 1 race worth €360,000 to the winner.

After last year’s Group 1 Champions Sprint win of Glen Shiel there is much excitement amongst the Hambleton team too as they compete at racing’s top table again.

Director of racing Simon Turner said “We were the only syndicate in Europe to win a Group 1 race last year and also enjoyed Stakes winners in France and Ireland. We’re selling a dream when syndicating these horses and horses like Glen Shiel and Mehmento are helping to make that dream a reality.”

Looking ahead to Sunday Simon continued “It will be a big thrill for our owners to see their horse racing in a Classic against last year’s champion two-year-old and this year’s 2000 Guineas winner in France.”

Mehmento will be ridden by Adam McNamara at Longchamp, successful aboard him on his second start, with Adam quarantining locally ahead of Sunday’s race.

Having secured Glen Shiel for £45,000 and Mehmento for £14,000 our team have once again been busy studying the up-coming bloodstock sales, bidding to find more quality horses at value prices for our horse racing syndicates.

Mehmento is all set for the French 2000 Guineas now so special focus will undoubtedly fall on the Goresbridge breeze-up sale he came from, which to date has seen us buy quality horses at value prices like globe-trotting Stakes winner Maystar (€35,000), Ayr Silver Cup winner Magical Spirit (€20,000) and the Listed placed Dandy’s Beano (€20,000).

Our trainers feel this is the best value breeze-up sale of the year and our results strongly agree.

Sunday’s race at Longchamp promises to a very exciting occasion for all Mehmento’s horse racing syndicate as their breeze-up graduate lines up at the highest level.

We’d like to wish all  involved the very best of luck as Mehmento bids to produce another day to remember for his owners.
