Owners Naming Meal Gallop

Naming Day time

10th March 2020

With a hint of spring in the air and the new Flat season on the horizon, it is very much naming day time for Hambleton’s owners.

This is the time of year our owners get to find out the winning names their youngsters will carry when making their eagerly awaited racecourse debuts later this year.

So just what do our naming days include? As the name suggests, the day’s focal point is the naming of the horse but the chance to see him on the gallops, meet him for a photo in the yard and of course meeting the rest of the syndicate really adds to enjoyment of the day.

Each syndicate owner has the chance to come up with their own unique name before the syndicate votes ahead of the day on the list of possible names owners have chosen.

The process always creates great competition and interest and is usually a hot topic of conversation whilst owners enjoy an excellent lunch local to the stables.

The all-important announcement of the winning name is made following lunch before the syndicate toast the official racing name of their young racehorse with a glass of champagne and look forward to the season ahead.

Our naming days really signal the new Flat season is all but upon us and the excitement of the season just keeps on increasing from there as owners look forward to the first run of their newly named horse.

The days create a lovely camaraderie within each horse racing syndicate as owners get the chance to meet as a group for the first time, and of course see their horse at closer quarters.

We’re really looking forward to this year’s naming days - we’ve booked some decent weather, have our excellent photographers poised for action and will be greeting owners with the usual selection of quality freshly baked treats and fresh, warm drinks when they arrive at the stables.

The first event takes place at Kevin Ryan’s stables on Saturday when the fully syndicated Buratino colt’s owners will head to Hambleton Lodge.

Good luck to his and indeed all owners as we head into naming day time! If past experience is any guide, the coming events should offer us all plenty of enjoyment whilst we enjoy some great company and get those all-important names announced.
