Greydreambeliever walking back

Our latest naming day

Greydreambeliever was the star of our latest naming day, which took place in picturesque Middleham, to a backdrop of clear skies and bright sunshine at Karl Burke’s Spigot Lodge stables.

Grey, our attractive two-year-old Dark Angel filly may be, but the morning was anything but, as our latest horse racing syndicate with Karl joined us to name their two-year-old filly with the all-conquering Karl Burke team.

On a beautiful morning, there was no mistaking the main attraction in the yard as owners gathered ahead of seeing their new filly, recruited from the Goresbridge breeze-ups, in the flesh for the first time.

Ahead of the action owners took full advantage of the welcome drinks and baked treats on offer, as lattes were sipped and pastries enjoyed in the glorious sunshine.

With a refreshment stop completed, owners prepared to leave the yard to watch their soon-to-be-named two-year-old on the historical Middleham Moor gallops as we headed up to watch her in action on the High Moor gallop.

Greydreambeliever seemed totally unfazed by her extra audience on the gallops, impressing everyone with her striking good looks and smooth action, as she passed the gallery moving well following a couple of other Hambleton horses in training with Karl.

After watching her exercise, it was soon time to return to the yard where our photographer Louise Pollard stepped in to get some lovely pictures of owners with their young filly, who posed nicely with owners as they got the chance to see her up close and personal while enjoying a pick of grass on the lawn at Spigot Lodge.

From here, owners had the chance to visit Greydreambeliever in her stable where she certainly lapped up the attention from her syndicate as they all had a lovely one-on-one encounter with her.

Once owners had the chance to go and view some of the other inmates under the care of Karl’s team, they moved on to a nearby pub to get on with the main business of the day – naming their two-year-old.

As per usual, the food and service were of a high standard at The Saddle Room, before Helen took to the floor to announce the name Greydreambeliever as the winner of the naming vote.

Owners toasted Greydreambeliever on her naming day, while Steve, a first-time owner with Hambleton, was delighted to hear of his naming success later that day. A prize bottle of champagne for suggesting the successful name will be finding its way to him shortly.

With Greydreambeliever looking in fine shape and progressing quickly at this early stage of her career, her naming day proved a real success with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere evident throughout the day.

Her owners are now excitedly looking forward to seeing Greydreambeliever out and racing.

The good news is, Karl expects this striking filly to be starting her racing career sooner rather than later.
