Our naming days
8th June 2023
It’s been a great year already on the racecourse and we’ve been having plenty of fun at the stables on our naming days too, as our owners are introduced to their new two-year-olds.
Our owners are of course welcome to visit their trainers individually on their terms when they’ll always be accompanied by a member of the Hambleton team.
Hambleton’s owners also have access to our popular naming days, where each syndicate comes together to see their horse at the stables and meet their fellow horse racing syndicate owners.
Days typically start with a nice nibble and hot drink within the yard, as owners watch their trainer’s staff prepare the horses for exercise.
There’s something special about being within this environment as the equine athletes we all revere are prepared for their morning work.
From there it’s off to the gallops to see the youngster exercise and snap some pictures of him before returning to the yard to get a little closer and say hello as we take a few informal snaps of owners and their horses.
With the horses safely rolling in their freshly prepared stables, it’s then off for lunch as our horse racing syndicates get the chance to find out more about one another and the all-important name of their youngster.
Our naming days are hugely enjoyable, offering owners the chance to meet the rest of their horse racing syndicate and have a good look around their trainer’s facilities, not to mention see their youngster exercise on the gallops and get some pictures as keepsakes of the day.
Bella Camina, a lovely filly by Camacho based with Kevin Ryan, was our final yearling recruit to receive her racing name on one of our naming days last weekend. She’s likely to be out and racing for her owners later this month.
Chaturanga, an impressive seven-and-a-half length winner on debut, was the first of this year’s newly named youngsters to win, he’s pictured below bounding clear on debut, and also on his naming day at Archie Watson’s Lambourn stables.
His next start, planned for later this month in a valuable novice event, is awaited with great interest.
In the meantime, we’ll soon be coming together again around the stables of our trainers in July to confirm the racing names of our new recruits from the breeze-up sales as they gear up for action on the racecourse.
