Last week saw the first of our breeze-up recruits naming days get underway as owners joined us at Kevin Ryan’s Hambleton Lodge stables to name Pivotal Voyage.
There’s always a lovely feel to these days and with the sunny summer weather continuing, owners enjoyed a relaxed time in the yard and enjoyed refreshments and a few tasty treats as the horses prepared for action.
The main feature of the morning was of course Pivotal Voyage, an attractive filly by Space Traveller who has thrived since being given time to settle into her new regime with Kevin and is gradually preparing for her eagerly awaited racecourse debut this summer.
Owners Watch Their Filly on the Hambleton Gallops
With the string all set in the indoor school, owners made their way up onto the gallops to watch their filly canter on Kevin’s private gallops which provides a great vista of the Hambleton hills and beyond.
Friday’s winner American Style limbered up for that success by leading the young filly and some of her fellow Hambleton stable mates, showing her the ropes in front of her racehorse syndicate on the historic gallops, which have been home to racehorses for over 400 years.
Pivotal Voyage Impresses on the Hambleton Gallops
Videos and pictures were taken as Pivotal Voyage, ridden by the experienced Paula Muir, exercised in impressive fashion, striding out fluently towards the fore of the string before heading back into Kevin Ryan’s yard where owners got to see her at much closer quarters.
Hambleton’s photographer, Louise Pollard, captured naming-day photos for owners with their new filly and she was even willing to stand quietly for the entire group to be pictured alongside her.
Naming Announcement and Lunch at The Carpenter’s Arms
Once everyone had taken a good look around the yard, owners made their way down to the nearby award-winning Carpenter’s Arms for lunch with the Hambleton team.
The standard of the excellent catering is well established at the Carpenter’s and provided the perfect location for owners to receive the all-important naming news, which was announced by Helen.
Les, a multiple shareholder with Hambleton, was the owner responsible for the winning name. As ever, the announcement of the name generated much conversation as the horse racing syndicate discussed their horse’s racing name, and what lay ahead for her as we look to start her racing career this summer.
It will be exciting to see Pivotal Voyage and her horse racing syndicate out and racing in the coming weeks, and she looks a lovely filly who should give her owners plenty of fun.
Our attention now turns to Newmarket where the team are looking forward to welcoming owners to name our two-year-old filly based with Tom Clover’s excellent, welcoming team.
