Quality horses at value prices

14th April 2021

We’d like to think owning a racehorse is a hugely enjoyable experience with Hambleton.

We’ve an outstanding record at producing quality horses at value prices over the years, consistently  providing competitive racehorses for our owners, which helps explain why some owners have been with us since we started, over 15 years ago.

As Glen Shiel’s Group 1 success showed last year it’s perfectly possible to compete in some of this great sport’s very best races and we’re thrilled to have an exciting period of rapid-fire quality action for our owners to enjoy in the next few days.

Going Places, a 20,000gns, in-training sales purchase, kicks things off in Class 2 six-furlong handicap at the Craven meeting on Wednesday. The son of Frankel has already won two of his three starts in our colours and we’re excited to see how far he can progress this year. Royal Ascot could yet be on his agenda.

The following day at Newmarket we have our first Stakes runner of the week as the impressive Imperial Sands (€35,000) tackles a high-class field in the Group 3 Craven Stakes.

He’ll be facing rivals who cost $1,000,000 and 750,000gns but Imperial Sands has looked a horse well up to competing at this sort of level and it will be a big thrill for his horse racing syndicate to be racing in against racing super powers.

On Friday David O’Meara’s Country Carnival (30,000gns) is in Listed race action at Bath as she bids to win further black type for her owners before a super Sunday of quality action.

Up at Ayr five-time winner Whoshotthesheriff (£40,000) will run in the Grade 2 Future Champion Novices’ Chase as he bids to further enhance his impressive cv for the Phil Kirby team.

Sheriff has been an absolute star performer for his owners and hopefully has many more big days ahead of him.

Back on the Flat at Newbury this year’s two-time winner Outbox (16,000gns) steps up to Group 3 level in the John Porter Stakes. He’s already won his purchase price in prize money this year and his delighted horse racing syndicate now have some exciting, quality races to look forward to.

Later on the card Mehmento, another bargain buy at £14,000, is set to put his unbeaten record on the line in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes. Once again, a horse we’ve purchased for our owners at a grass roots level will be entering the stalls against some of the biggest names our sport has to offer.

We’re immensely proud of our racing record and the value for money we obtain for our owners at the sales, allowing our owners to be directly involved in top quality races.

It promises to be a hugely exciting few days, made all the sweeter by the fact owners are now back racing and able to enjoy these massive runners in person.
