Racing Welfare our charity partner

9th June 2020

We're delighted to announce that Racing Welfare are now our official charity partner.

To kick off our new fund raising arrangement we'll be donating money to the charity whenever our horses are in action this month. Every time a we have a runner in June Racing Welfare will receive £50, while that amount will be doubled for every winner.

Racing Welfare provide support to the workforce of British Racing - the engine room that keeps the industry going.

Their emergency appeal to raise vital funds in absence of traditional fundraising due to the coronavirus pandemic is going well and we're delighted to lend our support to this excellent charity, of which we're long standing supporters.

Commenting on the new arrangement, Hambleton's Head Racing Manager said “Making Racing Welfare our official charity partner is a natural step. We’ve actually been supporting Racing Welfare since 2009. They need all the help they can get at the moment for their COVID 19 Emergency Appeal and we're hoping our cash for runners idea will help.”

“Our owners have been hugely supportive in recent months and we’re now trying to get them as much racing action to enjoy as possible. Thankfully the racing fixture list is providing plenty of opportunities so lets hope we can keep really busy throughout the month.”

We've already raised £500 during the early stages of June with impressive Newmarket winner Highland Dress among those who'll bid to further boost cash for runners fund this month.

Archie Watson’s progressive son of Shamardal now has the Wokingham at Royal Ascot on his agenda, where he’ll be joined by at least two further runners.

Al Rayyan Stakes winner Maystar is reported in great order and goes for the big three-year-old sprint handicap while the in-form Glen Shiel, runner-up at Newcastle earlier this month, seems better than ever and will get a couple of entries, with the Buckingham Palace perhaps his most likely option.

With lots of other runners due, our cash for runners seems the perfect way to launch Racing Welfare as our official charity partner.

Commenting on the partnership Racing Welfare Chief Executive , Dawn Goodfellow said " We are delighted that Hambleton Racing has chosen Racing Welfare as their charity partner and that they will be supporting our Covid-19 Emergency Appeal with their case for runners scheme. In such challenging times, we are incredibly grateful for this support and we have our fingers firmly crossed for them to have a successful season now that racing is back."
