Rebel’s first win

15th July 2020

It was great to see Rebel Solider Boy gain his first win at Catterick today, as he prevailed despite not really enjoying Catterick’s tight track.

The son of Sepoy had ran well on all five of his starts to date, showing notable improvement when upped to seven furlongs on his latest start at Leicester.

On this third start of the year Rebel was clearly finding the tight turns of Catterick far from ideal but warmed up through the race and was always going to win during the final quarter mile.

A horse with size and substance, Rebel Soldier Boy looks sure to progress further from here for his in-form trainer David O’Meara.

Rebel’s first win was particularly sweet as it gave a chance to one of his owners to be on the racecourse and enjoy the moment.

Mike, an owner with Hambleton for many years, is pictured above after being there to support his horse at Catterick.

The fact the moment was captured by Hambleton's official photographer Louise Pollard was a further bonus – an all-round good day!

We’ve no doubt there will be a good few more of those to come for Rebel and his owners!
