Runner news

Emerald Rocket is in action at Ripon on Sunday in the VW Van Centre Handicap (2.55), a 0-85 handicap run over ten furlongs.

The son of Society Rock is one of nine declared runners and has been drawn in stall seven. Connor Beasley takes the ride.

Emerald Rocket has come out of his last race at Nottingham very well, he is reported to be fresh and on good terms with himself at home.

Karl felt Emerald appear to handle the better ground last time out at Nottingham but it will be quicker still at Ripon so he will have to prove he handles the faster conditions along with the undulations on the Yorkshire track.

Of the opposition Glorious Player looks a likely contender, the lightly raced gelding has showed a fair bit of promise in three starts and looks on a fair mark for his handicap debut. He is open to plenty of improvement.

Benadalid is another, less obvious runner, to consider. He looks fairly handicapped and ran a very solid race at Haydock first time out this season. He will have to prove he stays this trip but it looked likely on his latest run.

Emerald Rocket is fresh and well for this second run over ten furlongs.

Ground and track have to be taken on trust but if he gets a decent trip we are hopeful of a decent showing from him on Sunday.
