Runner news

Our first runner of the week is Caridade who is back in action at Ayr on Monday for the Best Flat Races Live On Racing UK Fillies’ Handicap (6.30).

The four-year-old filly is one of nine runners in the six furlong race and has been drawn in stall three. Kevin Stott, who was successful aboard Caridade last year, takes the ride.

Caridade appears to be in good form now after she was given time to be refreshed from her opening effort at Wetherby. Kevin reports she is in good form at home and is hopeful that the drop back to six furlongs will suit Caridade, who showed a lot of speed in her races last year.

The race itself looks quite an open affair and as the top-rated horse, Caridade will have to concede weight all round to her rivals. A couple of these have been out of form of late but Nuns Walk brings recent form to the table with a good second at Nottingham last week. The arrival of significant rain would give her a really solid chance.

Of the others Melaniemillie is in fair form and should go well while Jessie Allen comes here on the back of a win at Redcar but this race looks tougher.

Kevin is happy with Caridade going into this race and is hopeful of a good showing from Caridade.

She has been mixing it with higher rated horses of late, and if she can be effective over the six furlongs then she should be capable of posting a solid effort at Ayr.
