Runner newsAfter a busy couple of days for the Hambleton team there is just the one runner heading to Catterick this Saturday. Hurricane Speed is due to have his second ever start at the popular North Yorkshire track.
He is due to run in the totescoop6 It’s A Rollover Novice Median Auction Stakes (1.45) which is a race for two-year-olds that is to be run over five furlongs.
Hurricane Speed is one of ten runners in the race and he has been drawn in stall nine with Tom Eaves booked to take the ride.
He has been in good order since making his racecourse debut and Kevin feels that Hurricane Speed will need a longer trip to be seen to better effect and also that he is the type to improve through the season with racing.
Looking at the runners with experience, Primeiro Boy, a son of Zebedee, was bumped at the start on debut, so it would be no surprise to see him improve on that respectable opening effort.
With regards the newcomers Chappelli, a filly by Poet’s Voice, boasts a decent pedigree. She warrants obvious respect while Amazing Alba also has two-year-old winners in her pedigree and could be one to note.
Kevin is hopeful of an improved showing from his initial effort but he has stated that he feels Hurricane Speed will need more experience before he can show himself in the best light. Therefore, it would be a very pleasant surprise if he was able to be very competitive in this race.
We wish all of his connections the best of luck for Saturday.
