Sands off the mark

2nd July 2019

The owners of Dramatic Sands were in great form at Chepstow on Tuesday evening as their colt won his first race under Hollie Doyle.

Runner-up to a 800,000gns colt on debut at Yarmouth, the son of Footstepsinthesand was asked a tough question next time in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot but made no mistake on this third start of his brief career.

Always close up in a well-run race, Dramatic Sands was forced to go for home a little earlier than ideal but Hollie didn’t panic and after letting the runner-up get upsides she got down to work to assert in the closing stages.

Dramatic and Hollie were greeted by some great scenes in the winners’ enclosure as they came back in to pass on exactly how they’d got the job done.

A colt trainer Archie Watson has a high opinion of, Dramatic Sands looks a young horse to keep on the right side of for the rest of the season.
