Spartan Arrow has made a fast start to his career with us and registered his first win for his horse racing syndicate at Wolverhampton on Tuesday.
This talented horse, recruited for just 17,000gns from the horses in training sales last October, was winning here off a mark of 90, highlighting how well bought he was by our buying team in the Tattersalls sales ring.
Breaking well from his inside stall under Hollie Doyle, Spartan Arrow was soon well positioned tracking the eventual runner-up.
Despite not being entirely fluent around the home turn, Spartan Arrow began to run on powerfully from over a furlong out before having a great scrap with the runner-up through the closing stages, who proved a resilient opponent.
There are few better allies to have on side in such situations than Hollie and sure enough when the result was called it was Hollie and Spartan Arrow who had gained the day by the narrowest of margins.
There was lots to like about the way Spartan Arrow went about his winning business here, with Hollie quite taken with him on the night as he showed a great attitude to his racing late on.
This was yet another outstanding training performance by trainer Archie Watson, who is now plotting his next move in Lambourn with this quality sprinter.
Archie feels there is more to come from the lightly raced five-year-old who has some decent form to his name on tracks like Goodwood and York on his cv.
This first success in the beige and blue for his horse racing syndicate got Spartan Arrow’s first win on the board and hopefully his owners now have loads more to look forward to this year with this talented sprinter.
We look forward to seeing how he can progress for Archie through the campaign.
