What a start!
3rd December 2021
What a start to our National Hunt association with Archie Watson! Grove Road made a winning start today at Sedgefield, meaning our first two jumpers with Archie have both won at the first time of asking.
That’s incredible going by any standards but we’ve come to expect brilliant things of our horses in Archie’s care. Grove Road looked a picture in the parade ring and travelled well in front rank throughout the contest.
Taking it up turning into the straight Grove Road and Adam Wedge were briefly tapped for speed as the race developed but as the runners hit the rising ground the five-year-old son of Mahler really came into his own, staying on powerfully to run down Brian Hughes and Stroll On By to ultimately win well by over a length.
An excellent attitude was the hallmark of this success and Adam was glowing in his praise afterwards, feeling Grove Road was a lovely prospect and a horse that would be a nice horse over an obstacle in time.
Grove Road has already shown he can jump well, both when taking Archie’s National Hunt expert’s eye in his point to point and when spending his pre-training with the legendary Henrietta Knight.
He’s now proven he’s a good engine to go with his good looks and jumping and is clearly an exciting horse to look forward to.
Archie feels he’ll be even better when on a stiffer track on more testing ground which is very exciting for all concerned.
Remarkably, we still have one twelfth share left in Grove Road. If you’d like to join in the fun with his syndicate, more details can be found via the link below.
