Our solid two-year-old Dapper Charm has provided his horse racing syndicate with plenty of fun so far this year and gained a deserved win at Carlisle yesterday under Hollie Doyle.
Runner-up in his first three races of the season, including in a notably good race at Windsor last time, the son of Dandy Man was hardly winning out of turn.
Sent off at short odds, Dapper Charm was soon well placed, leading the field into the home straight, and the further he went the better he looked.
As Hollie really asked him to move on, her mount found willingly for pressure, eventually pulling over four lengths clear of her toiling rivals, much to the delight of his horse racing syndicate, who gave him a warm reception as he walked back into the winners enclosure.
Dapper Charm’s win under Hollie Doyle initiated a quick across-the-card double for trainer Archie Watson, who was recording a milestone win – the 800th of his impressive career to date.
Hambleton’s latest success keeps the great form of our two-year-olds going this season, with all of this year’s juvenile runners to date either already successful, or shaping like sure-fire winners in the near future, which is great to see.
With entries in some of the big sales races later this summer to come there is loads to look forward to with our young horses for our owners, while a couple of our mid-season two-year-olds who are later developers are also really pleasing their trainers too. All in all a very pleasing state of affairs.
For Dapper Charm, Archie Watson and his owners will now have their thinking caps on in the weeks ahead before deciding whether to take up his entry in the July Sales next month.
If he does take up his option at the sales, it’s a safe bet he’ll be worth considerably more than the 14,000gns we paid for him in the Tattersalls sales ring last September!
