Racehorse Ownership

Thanks to syndicated racehorse ownership, it’s more accessible and affordable than ever before to own a share in a racehorse.

Race days are heart-poundingly exciting. But they’re just the tip of the racehorse ownership iceberg. At Hambleton Racing, everything is built around the owner. Our Fair Play ethos guides how we operate, keeping things simple, transparent, and genuinely enjoyable, while ensuring every horse is managed to the highest professional standard. And when your horse steps onto the track and shows what it can do, that sense of reward makes it all worthwhile.

You’re putting your dream of owning shares in a racehorse in our hands, so naturally you’re our centre of attention.

How does racehorse ownership with us work?

When you own a racehorse with us, there are a maximum of 12 owners in each racehorse syndicate, but we aim to make you feel like the sole owner of your horse. We ensure your racehorse ownership is enjoyable, carefree and can guarantee you a great time.

You’ll forge friendships with like-minded people as you live the racing dream and make memories that last a lifetime.

No Hidden Costs

We’re a founder member of the Racehorse Syndicates Association and unlike some high-profile racehorse syndicates, our fees are clear – we don’t tax your prize money or charge you for your owners badges and insurance is included as standard should the unthinkable happen.

With Hambleton, the price you see is the price you pay – there are no hidden extras. You keep 100% of your prize money, have access to unlimited, private stable visits and receive two complimentary owners’ badges whenever your horse runs.

Racehorse Ownership FAQs

How much does it cost to own a racehorse in the UK?

Outright ownership of a UK racehorse typically costs £25,000 to £100,000+ for the horse itself, with annual training and racing costs of £25,000 to £40,000. Through a Hambleton syndicate, you can experience full ownership benefits for a fraction of the cost by sharing a horse with up to 11 other owners.

How do I get into racehorse ownership?

To experience true racehorse ownership, the most accessible route is joining a racehorse syndicate, which is far less expensive than owning you own horse outright. With Hambleton, you buy a share in a horse, pay simple upfront and monthly costs, and get the full ownership experience including stable visits, race-day access, prize money and trainer contact. We handle the rest. Get started with our available racehorse shares.

Is racehorse ownership worth it?

For most owners, yes, but for the experience rather than the return. Race days, stable visits, naming days and the community of fellow owners are what keep most owners involved year after year. Many of our owners have stayed with Hambleton for over a decade.

What's the difference between sole ownership and a syndicate?

Sole ownership means you own 100% of the horse and pay 100% of the costs. A syndicate spreads both the costs and the experience across a group. Hambleton syndicates are capped at 12 owners with equal shares, so each member gets close-to-sole-ownership benefits at a fraction of the cost. Unlike with sole ownership, owning in a syndicate with Hambleton ensures prices are clear, meaning your costs can never exceed what you’ve budgeted for. Can I be involved in decisions about my horse?

Yes. You’ll be kept up to date with your horse’s progress, race entries and all major decisions, and we’re always happy to hear your thoughts. Your racing manager is on hand to talk things through whenever you wish. See what our owners say.
