Hero gains deserved hurdles win
31st January 2024
Our bumper winner Chosen Hero gained a well-deserved first win over hurdles at Chepstow yesterday under Nick Schofield for the Archie Watson team.
A winner at Wetherby last season, she was placed at Chepstow in her bumper campaign and clearly enjoyed the return to a familiar venue, relishing the deep ground which suits her so well.
Typically full of beans and keen to get on with things ahead of the race, Chosen Hero settled well under Nick when the runners jumped off and was always travelling comfortably throughout.
As the race developed, Nick bided his time and came with a well-timed run, to produce Hero to lead after the last flight, and she battled on gamely from that point to gain a deserved success to the delight of her horse racing syndicate.
Nick was complimentary about his latest winner for us after the race, reporting she loved the ground and, in his opinion, was the type to do very well over fences going forward.
The bigger obstacles will doubtless be a big part of Hero’s future story, but for now it appears there is a lot more fun to be had over hurdles following this deserved success at Chepstow.
This latest winner, our seventh since the start of the year, maintains our fantastic start to the New Year.
We look forward to seeing Chosen Hero out again soon as she bids to build on this opening success over hurdles.
